چکیده

Abstract The Chandra X-Ray Observatory (CXO) imaged the high-mass ? -ray binary HESS J0632+057 with Advanced CCD Imaging Spectrometer (ACIS). We analyzed CXO data together 967 ks of archival Swift-XRT observations. On arcsecond scales we find a hint asymmetric extended emission. arcminute scales, region emission (“the blob”), located ? 5 .? east binary, is seen in both CXO-ACIS and images. blob does not have counterpart radio, near-IR, IR, or optical ACIS spectrum fits either an absorbed power-law model ? ? 2.6, thermal plasma kT 3 keV. Since blob’s N H significantly higher than that conclude are directly related. somewhat larger, very deep XRT image suggests may be within shell (or cavity). four spectra taken ?20 day interval near light-curve minimum suggest varies on timescales days, possibly due to inhomogeneous circumbinary environment. extracted from wider orbital phase intervals support significant changes maximum/minimum, which responsible for substantial systematic residuals 1 keV, provide tentative evidence Fe line at 6.4 no periodic signal up 0.156 Hz.

Simultaneous radio and X-ray observations of the low-mass X-ray binary GX 13+1

We present the results of two simultaneous X-ray/radio observations of the low-mass X-ray binary GX 13+1, performed in July/ August 1999 with the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer and the Very Large Array. In X-rays the source was observed in two distinct spectral states; a soft state, which had a corresponding 6 cm flux density of ∼0.25 mJy, and a hard state, which was much brighter at 1.3–7.2 mJy. ...

Discovery of slow X-ray pulsations in the high-mass X-ray binary 4U2206+54

Context. The source 4U 2206+54 is one of the most enigmatic high-mass X-ray binaries. In spite of intensive searches, X-ray pulsations have not been detected in the time range 10−3–103 s. A cyclotron line at ∼30 keV has been suggested by various authors but never detected with significance. The stellar wind of the optical companion is abnormally slow. The orbital period, initially reported to b...

High Mass X-ray Binary Modeling: The Magellanic Cloud Populations

We construct models for the population of high mass X-ray binaries (HMXRBs) in the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) and Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC). In particular , we investigate the eeect which the lower stellar metallicities of the Magellanic Clouds (MCs) has on the evolution and properties of HMXRBs. From the observed properties of the relatively small number of identiied HMXRBs in the MCs, it...

XMM - Newton observations reveal the X - ray counterpart of the very - high - energy γ - ray source HESS J 1640 – 465

We present X-ray observations of the as of yet unidentified very high-energy (VHE) γ-ray source HESSJ1640–465 with the aim of establishing a counterpart of this source in the keV energy range, and identifying the mechanism responsible for the VHE emission. The 21.8 ksec XMM-Newton observation of HESSJ1640– 465 in September 2005 represents a significant improvement in sensitivity and angular res...
